On June 28, 2024, China’s first liquid hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the FAW Jiefang "Xingyi" Hydrogen Energy Twin-Star product, was officially launched. It became the first hydrogen-powered vehicle in China that can truly be put into operation.
At the same time, the FAW Jiefang (Qingdao) Commercial Vehicle Development Institute was officially opened. The institute will possess leading domestic capabilities in automotive electronics, intelligent connectivity, and other R&D areas. It represents the highest level of commercial vehicle development at FAW and marks a significant step forward in advancing China’s automotive industry towards higher-end, intelligent technology.
TOTAL INVESTMENT 1.2 BILLION
The FAW Jiefang (Qingdao) Commercial Vehicle Development Institute is located at No. 1 Zhuzhou Road, Laoshan District, Qingdao. The project has a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan and includes the construction of a new building, as well as workshops covering over 70,000 square meters.
It is equipped with 60 sets of advanced, high-precision equipment. It focuses on five key core technologies for commercial vehicles: data analysis, intelligent connectivity, automotive electronics and electrical core assembly development, testing and simulation, and creative styling.
